Building Energy and Sustainability Technician (BEST) – BEST is a national certification offered by the Association of Energy Engineers to improve the practice of building energy and sustainability

Building Operator Certification (BOC) – BOC is a national professional development and credential program offering job skills in energy efficient building operation and maintenance practices offered locally by the South-central Partnership for Energy Efficiency.

Building Energy Assessment Professional Certification (BEAP) – BEAP is a national certification offered by ASHRAE to certify individual’s ability to audit and analyze buildings, submitting recommendations for energy conservation measures, and assisting with the implementation of these recommendations.

Certificate of Proficiency in Benchmarking – A training and certificate program for benchmarking building energy and water performance using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, developed by Consortium for Building Energy Innovation and issued by New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) – CEM is a certification offered by the Association of Energy Engineers that recognizes an individuals’ high levels of experience, competence, proficiency, and ethical fitness in the energy management profession.

Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP) – EBCP certification is offered through the Association of Energy Engineers and focuses on all aspects of existing building commissioning.

Houston Green Office Challenge – This Houston-wide program brings local, state and national sustainability experts together with businesses and properties to learn and engage in both introductory and high performance green building practices through free workshops and training.

Operations and Performance Management Professional (OPMP) – OPMP certification is offered through ASHRAE and focuses on the management of facility operations and maintenance and their impact on HVAC&R system’s performance.

Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) – SMT certification is offered through BOMI International and focuses on the operations and maintenance of major building systems.

Building Data Exchange Specification (BEDES) –  BEDES is a dictionary of terms, definitions, and field formats which was created by the U.S. Department of Energy to help facilitate the exchange of information on building characteristics and energy use. It is intended to be used in tools and activities that help stakeholders make energy investment decisions, track building performance, and implement energy efficient policies and programs.

Commercial Building Energy Asset Score – The U.S. Department of Energy developed this national standard for a voluntary energy rating system evaluating the physical characteristics of your building as built and its overall energy efficiency independent of occupancy and operational choices. This tool will also identify cost-effective upgrade opportunities and help facility owners and managers gain insight into the energy efficiency potential of buildings.

Green Building Information Gateway (GBIG) – See an overview of green building activity within a specific location and view summary statistics for cities, states, districts and countries.

Green Lease Library – A collaboration among several stakeholders in the green leasing community, including BOMA, Rocky Mountain Institute, and U.S. DOE, the Green Lease Library was developed to consolidate green leasing resources for all audience types. Green leases (also known as aligned leases, high performance leases, or energy efficient leases) align the financial and energy incentives of building owners and tenants so they can work together to save money, conserve resources, and ensure the efficient operation of buildings.

Texas SCORE & CitySmart Programs – Through the SCORE / CitySmart Program, K-12 public and private schools, higher education, and municipal governments are provided assistance in benchmarking their facilities using Portfolio Manager, developing an energy master plan, identifying and prioritizing energy efficiency projects, and communicating project successes to
management and the community.
